It has been a very exciting year for us here at NiniMomo. Being chosen as the official doll designers for the 2010 National Barbie Convention was beyond imaginable. Then, being chosen to represent the premiere issue of Doll Crafter and Costuming really was a jaw dropper. Finally, back in late Fall, we received a mysterious package from Mattel. We had no idea what it was - neither of us had ordered any dolls. We were thrilled upon opening it to find a beautifully packaged soon to debut Barbie Basics Model #10 doll, along with four amazing accessory packs and an invitation to be part of a small group of one-of-a-kind designers to re-vamp our model in her "little black dress". Along with this came a very special letter directly from Mattel...
Here is the letter that was included in that package
|
| This was a project
that had our names written all over it - exactly what we love to do. After
much thoughts and discussion, we finally decided on a design that combined
the original dress, the idea of "the little black dress" and of course,
NiniMomo.
It was an honor to be featured on the Barbie Collector website amongst many of our peers. Although we weren't directly connected to Mattel's project with CFDA - The Council of Fashion Designers of America - it was absolutely thrilling to have our doll within the same page as designers such as Isaac Mizrahi and Betsey Johnson, all of which designed their own Barbie Basics doll for charity.
