the harbor beach marriott hotel & spa, ft. lauderdale, was the site for this year's convention. it was a gorgeous hotel and we were psyched to have the presidential suite. it was HUGE and definitely made our 15 year anniversary celebration and room sales very comfortable and it afforded us the opportunity to have lots of gatherings with convention friends and a few parties!

this year we brought along someone to help us out, angela pravata, aka shangela, and she did a tremendous job helping us out and making some friends of her own. it was a special year for us as we are celebrating our 15th year in business and it was made more special by having my parents (nik's) there to experience a national barbie convention. they were overwhelmed by the magnitude of the event and really enjoyed meeting our customers and friends.

we were extremely proud to bring in $15,500 with our live auction, "great fashion houses of the time: balenciaga, dior and givenchy". this year's live auction charity was "the children's home society of florida". we were also proud that our silent auction, "barbie and ken finally tie the knot", raised $1250.00 also for the children's home society of florida. learn more about this excellent charity and the aid they give to not only children but their families.

thank you to all our convention customers and friends for being part of our 15 year anniversary celebration. prior to convention we work non-stop to prepare for the event and as hard as we work, we come back each year more rejuvenated (after some catch up on sleep!) and ready to create more one-of-a-kind delegates, all thanks to your continued support.

we really enjoyed spending quality time with our friends and customers. it was a very special week this year and we had so much fun and appreciate all the help many of you gave us as well as all the fun times spent together.

we'd like to thank deb, dave, kevin, linda, diana, and of course rebecca for sharing these wonderful photos. visit rebecca's blog spot

delegates are finally set up and ready to meet their potential owners! we had our 85 delegates set up throughout the suite with the majority on a large glass table. the suite was so large that it never felt overly crowded which was perfect

dave and linda, kevin and lorena were such a HUGE help to us and we couldn't thank them more. linda was our bartender and organizer. lorena was customer service, dave was bouncer (see his badge!) and kevin was photographer and kept me in line (drink the tonic now!)

we were completely thrilled that our silent auction entry brought in $1250.00 for this year's charity, "the children's home society of florida". to learn more about our silent auction entry, please click on the flyer above. we chose a barbie basics model #1 – collection 001.5 and paired her with a 2010 harley davidson ken. lebanese designer, abed mafouz was the inspiration for barbie's stunning wedding gown all in silk taffeta and silk chiffon some of which has been overlaid on blush. gown has been festooned with hand-sewn seed beads and sequins and dramatic tulle veil complete with hand-beaded headband has also been adorned with scattered hand-sewn tiny sequins. she also dones hand-beaded white sheer gauntlets and her shimmering rhinestone wedding ring. for ken, we created his retro dior inspired tuxedo in 100% silk taffeta and charmeuse. barbie's finishing touches are her bridal bouquet and exquisite genuine diamond chip flower earrings valued at $250.00. thank you sue for your generous contribution!

ninimomo's live auction this year brought in a whopping $15,500 for charity ("the children's home society of florida")., the second highest amount of the night next to bill greening of mattel's stunning entry. since our company focuses so much on couture fashion, we decided to focus our attention on what we do best. our three decadent ladies each wear a classic evening gown inspired by one of the famed couturiers of the mid-century. to learn more about our live auction, please read the flyer above.

our balenciaga gown in sky blue silk charmeuse has been smothered in hand-sewn beadwork from top to bottom with bands of genuine swarovski crystal rhinestones along chest and hem. gown has been paired with a silk taffeta evening coat which has been adorned along front edges and three quarter sleeve edges with silver filigree and hand-sewn beadwork. hand-sewn faux swarovski pearl ball "buttons" complete the coat. rhinestone jewelry and hair accessories add the final touches. doll formerly: barbie basics #1

our givenchy entry was inspired by the french couturier's classic design for audrey hepburn in her role as sabrina. silk white taffeta has been meticulously and painstakingly hand-painted in a gorgeous replica of gown's original floral pattern. then, hand-sewn beadwork and genuine swarovski crystal rhinestone accents have been added. genuine swarovski crystal rhinestone jewelry and white evening gloves complete the look. doll formerly: society hound we've also included a couturier ken (happy family grandpa) in the diorama complete with wool pants, dress shirt and tie. he's holds a yardstick.

finally, our dior entry wears the classic evening gown from 1949 consisting of a multitude of petal panels encompassing a ball skirt in sheer peach organza. each leaf has been painstakingly covered in hand-sewn beadwork. bodice too has been covered in hand-sewn beadwork as well as her sheer gauntlets. shimmering rhinestone jewelry complete her look. doll formerly: publicity tour this diorama comes complete with a dior seamstress (alexis carrington) in a black silk taffeta dress complete with pin cushion bracelet.
