With creating one-of-a-kind Barbie Delegates for 15 years, we still are overwhelmed knowing our Delegates are being displayed in collector's homes throughout the world. It is incredibly humbling and it never ceases to amaze us. Along with our regular collection of pageant Delegates, we have also created many special order dolls for a wide variety of people, some not even Barbie collectors. Back in 1998, when NiniMomo was new, we were so proud to have our Brook Lee - Miss USA Doll on display in the Bishop Museum in Honolulu. Over the past decade we have created many special order dolls from pageant winners to drag queens. We've even created dolls for John Galliano of Dior which was a total honor for us.
Recently, we have had some requests for special orders that were definitely interesting for us, whether for charity of just to put a smile on a customer's face, we love doing what we do! Read on to find out more....

December 2010, the 10th edition of the Miss Earth Pageant was held in Nha Trang, Vietnam where Nicole Farhi, Miss India was chosen winner. Among the finalists was Missouri native, Danielle Bounds, representing the USA. Danielle is a friend of NiniMomo who helped us out at the 2008 National Barbie Convention in Kansas City. Danielle and the Miss United States Earth Director, Evan Skow asked if NiniMomo would sponsor the Miss US Earth pageant with a NiniMomo Delegate. That Delegate would travel to Vietnam where she would be auctioned off for charity to the recent flood victims in central Vietnam. Since the theme of Miss Earth for 2010 was Water, we decided to use NiniMomo's former Miss Vanuatu for the auction. We were delighted to not only sponsor the Miss Earth US franchise but to also help out those in need. |

| Over the past couple of years we've had a wonderful admirer of our Delegates who happens to live in Romania. She writes a great blog in Romania about Barbie and was even featured in Marie Claire magazine regarding her collecting. Ada has been a great supporter of us and we were completely happy when her boyfriend, Marian, got in touch with us back in October for a special plan he had in mind. Marian wanted to propose to Ada but wanted to do it in a special way. He wanted NiniMomo to create a replica doll of Ada to give to her along with the ring. We were completely thrilled to do this and were honored to play a small role in that proposal! So, we decided to replicate Ada as she looked for the Marie Claire shoot. We created a special certificate for her as well as including an "engagement" ring for the Ada doll. It was a lot of fun and in case you're wondering, she said "yes" to Marian. We're so happy for the two of them. Totally cool situation! | |||

| Our latest request has come
from a couple in California, George and Lori. Many collectors may know the two
as they are very involved in
the Barbie World and they have generously sponsored many events during convention time.
Lori, a big Barbie collector also happens to love fashion, in particularly,
Chanel. Back around Christmas, George had commissioned us to create a gift
for Lori- her idol, the brilliant, larger-than-life Karl Lagerfeld.
Lagerfeld is currently the head designer and creative director for the House
of Chanel as well as his own label and Fendi. To create our Karl replica, we used a 2010 Harley Davidson Ken and re-rooted him in white to give him his distinctive ponytail. We also added a little flocking to give his hair a bit of a flyaway look and added some of the wrinkles that the 78 year old Lagerfeld has acquired through the years. We added all the right bells and whistles to his clothing from the fingerless gloves to the sleek suit and high-neck white collared shirt. He also sports a lot of accessories, something Lagerfeld is known for. Truly, the hardest part for us was to find the right pair of shades that has become Lagerfeld's trademark. We offered Lori two pairs of shades so she can switch off! |
