NiniMomo travels back more than a decade to re-visit our first full year in business, 1998, and the International Pageant Collection of that time! |
This is a fun and informative section of our newsletter as NiniMomo dips into their archives. Over 3500 One-of-a-Kind Delegates later we have surprised ourselves with how far we've come. With each newsletter, follow the evolution of NiniMomo during the past 13 years.
When we started NiniMomo back in the Winter of 1996, NiniMomo was nothing more than a test run at a hobby. Everything we learned, we learned through trial and error. Back then, we were photographing the dolls with natural light and then scanning each and every photo - whew! that took time. Digital photography, as well as, honed creative skills really show in the evolution of our Delegates. Each seasonal newsletter will feature various NiniMomo Delegates over the years. We'd love to hear from you with any suggestions for upcoming archive sections to feature.
For our Spring 2009 issue, we decided to really dust off the cobwebs and travel back over a decade to 1998 - our first official year as a business! We came across an old CD with numerous amounts of 1998 International Delegates and below are 25 we'd like to share with you. Unfortunately we do not have their original descriptions - if any one out there has the originals for these 25, we'd love to have them.
As it was our first full year in business we began to focus our skills on hand-sewn beadwork which is evident on our later Delegates of 1998 such as Miss Curacao and Miss New Zealand. Back then we used a size 11 seed bead which is much larger with more coverage than the painstakingly small size 15 we've been using since 2004/2005. Anyone familiar with needlepoint and beadwork know this size difference. However, through trial and error, we slowly developed our beading skills and we were proud of 1998's Delegates as it was a turning point for NiniMomo.

Check to see who these 15 beauties competed against (as unfortunately these 15 didn't place) in Doll of the World 1999. Oh, and by the way, the following 15 Delegates sold off years ago so they are not available! We'd love to hear from some of the owners of these beauties!
