Each month we will be featuring mini-spotlights on our varying customers throughout the world. For our October newsletter, we're traveling around the world to go "Down Under" and meet up with three of our Aussie customers. Josie, Linda and Kerrie all hale from beautiful Queensland, Australia, the northwestern state in the Land of Oz. We met these girls at the National Barbie® Convention in Kansas City this past June. Both Jeri and Lizzie were a a lot of fun and even became NiniMomo customers! Who says New York and Texas are so different? Thank you guys for being our first featured customers for our premiere newsletter. We are looking forward to a lot more fun in D.C. next year!
![]() Josie Rigney hales from Biloela in Queensland and was the winner of NiniMomo's Great Australian Challenge last year. This was a competition for Aussie collectors to have a chance to win a their very own OOAK Delegate representing Australia. Not only did she win the competition but she also had the opportunity to design the Miss Australia Delegate. Josie is also the proud owner of Miss Bahrain 2007 which was a semi-finalist in NiniMomo's Doll of the World 2008. "After winning the competition to help design a delegate for Australia, I was very impressed with how the design process evolved into the beautiful original OOAK doll that I now possess. Nik and Marie interpreted my original design excellently and went ahead to improve on it with their signature flair and style! I also purchased Miss Bahrain, whom I adore and hopefully soon I will add more NiniMomo dolls to my collection." |
We
first met Linda from Mackenzie, Queensland this past summer at the 2008
National Barbie®
Convention in Kansas City which she attended with Aussie friend and
co-collector Linda Valentine. We all became fast friends. We presented Linda
with Miss Martha's Vineyard, a NiniMomo she
had her eyes on throughout the week. Since then, Linda has become owner of
Misses Rhode Island,
Long Island and her latest acquisition,
the stunning Miss Germany.
"I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting the dynamic duo (aka Nik and Marie) at the 2008 Barbie® Convention in Kansas City. I was a long way from home and a little overwhelmed by my first US convention experience (not to mention suffering from an all mighty dose of laryngitis!) but the moment I laid eyes on the sublime creations displayed in their room during their launch party, my breath was taken away… At the last dinner event of the Convention, Nik and Marie surprised me with an extremely generous gift… the absolutely stunning Miss Martha’s Vineyard (pictured). Their generosity brought tears to my eyes and when I returned home to Australia she very quickly became the highlight of my collection. (There was a little jealously from Pink Splendor, Billions of Dreams, Crystal Jubilee, Millennium Bride and Madam du Barbie, when they found that they’d been lowered in the pecking order… but since then they’ve come to understand that unlike their mass produced selves, “Martha” is truly a special girl indeed.) I have long been a fan of Barbie® and had seen the gorgeous creations of Ninimomo in print and online, but nothing (and I mean nothing) can compare to beholding their beauty in the flesh (or should that be plastic?) (lol) Every amazing detail works together to create something that is nothing short of magic. The girls truly do embody everything that I love about quality collectible dolls, the finest fabrics and findings, amazing accessories, high fashion and timeless couture, beautiful faces and hair to die for! But wait there’s more… all this and the fact that each and every piece is a one-of-a-kind original, making for a simply must have addition to any collectors 11 ½ inch family. Only problem is… like some delectable and decant dessert treat… you can’t have just one… Thankfully, Ninimomo always have new beauties to satisfy the addiction they have created in so many of their fans. And I am very pleased to say that as I write this Miss Rhode Island is on her way down under to join my family and I’ve just popped my name down on Miss Long Island and Miss Germany (thank goodness for lay-away!)."

Kerrie Barnes of Gympie,
Queensland, is one of our newest NiniMomo clients. Kerrie has just moved to
a new home and we were very appreciative that she took the time to submit
her piece to NiniMomo. Kerrie, (photo: with husband Phil and son, Daniel),
first took that leap into NiniMomo collecting by purchasing
Miss Chechnya and
Miss Wisconsin. Since then, she has added
to her NiniMomo "family", Misses Palestine,
Slovenia, and
Miss England 2009.
"G'day from
downunder. My name is Kerrie Barnes and I live in Gympie, Queensland,
Australia. I have only been collecting NiniMomo dolls for a short time, but
I have been an avid fan for years. The attention to detail, and the beauty
and craftsmanship of all NiniMomo creations, is second to none. So far, I
have been lucky enough to purchase five exquisite ladies from Nik and Marie,
and hopefully very soon I will be adding more to my collection. They are
true visionaries in the OOAK Barbie®
scene." |
