Take a Tour of NiniMomo

Come visit the NiniMomo Headquarters a.k.a. studio a.k.a. converted garage where we spend way too much time.

We thought it suitable to show all of you exactly where it is that we create all our OOAK Pageant Delegates through the year. Welcome to the official NiniMomo Headquarters where work can be done in pajamas at any time of the day or night. This is basically the most important part of Nik's house and probably the most "lived" in as we spend way too much time here designing, sewing, beading, painting, shipping, researching....the list goes on.....

When Nik purchased this home back in 1999, a major incentive for buying it was the previous owner had converted their one-car garage into a studio. They had owned an art framing business and did much of their labor in their garage. It was the perfect setup for NiniMomo which needed something bigger than the four room apartment the company had been "born" in.

So, after laying down the countertops, and christening the room with the NiniMomo signature color of purple on the walls, cabinets and even the floors, the NiniMomo Headquarters became official.

Here is our baker's rack of stored fabric known as the "wall of fabric". We've been collecting fabrics for the past 13 years and we still have fabric dating back to 1996 when we first began. 1 yard of fabric goes a long way for a Barbie OOAK! We try to break down each container into color and then have separate containers for chiffons, lames, sheer stretch, etc...

We have another rack where we store all the Mattel Barbies that will eventually be turned into  OOAK NiniMomo Delegates. We just nabbed a bunch of dolls at great prices on the Barbie Collector website.

our latest shipment of Birthstone Beauties. We love using the model muse bodies and sometimes we'll use the B.B. bodies with other heads.   Our absolute favorite face mold (Monte Carlo) and what we think was the best series from Mattel, the On Location series.   Our current inventory which stacks back about 6 boxes

A main workspace is here on this table where we also store all our sequins and seed beads for beadwork as well as various other beads and findings. We even have compartments for our Swarovski crystal rhinestones and bi-cones. As you can see we try to keep everything color coded to make planning and choosing easier. It works.

Seed beads and sequins are separated by color   Some trays of Swarovski crystal rhinestones and bicones   Here are just some of the various beads and findings we use   These NiniMomo Delegates are getting in line to be boxed

Wherever you turn in our studio, there are dolls: naked, headless, boxed, deboxed or already a NiniMomo OOAK waiting to be boxed - dolls basically over run the entire studio!

Once a Delegate has been completed, she is photographed and released on our site. Regardless of her status - on layaway, paid in full or waiting to be sold - she is boxed and shelved. We give all our dolls thorough checks and once they pass our inspection, they pass on to Anita, who heads our shipping area (which is approximately 5' X 5'!). She prepares the certificates, the stands and boxes the dolls. She is also responsible for shipping the NiniMomos all over the world.

We've been more than happy to give you a little tour of where we create, where we work, and where all our NiniMomos have their beginnings!
