Miss USA 1997 Presented Look-Alike Doll from NiniMomo Creations

– "Oh my God,
I’m a doll," said a surprised Miss USA 1997, Brook Lee,
who was presented a NiniMomo doll fashioned after her evening
gown worn at the Miss USA
Pageant held in Shreveport, LA on February 5th.
"You’ve immortalized me in plastic!," cried Miss
Lee. Hammerman Jewelers showroom in NYC was the site of
co-designers and company owners Nik Moronese and Marie
LeBreton’s presentation to Miss Lee on February 27th.
"We were very happy that Brook was our first recipient of
one of our pageant dolls and couldn’t believe her
reaction," said Moronese. Lee, who hails from Pearl City,
HI, will go on to represent the USA at the 1997 Miss Universe
Pageant in Miami, FL in May. Miss Lee
said she could not believe that they (NiniMomo Creations) so
accurately reproduced the gown. "Everyone thought my gown
was black," she said, talking about her maroon velvet gown
which has black undertones. Rosalie, Miss Lee’s travel
coordinator, added, "Wait until the folks at Miss Universe
get a look at this doll. They’re going to go crazy!"
Moronese and LeBreton designed the gown after Miss USA’s competition evening gown selection. By hand sewing over 150 Swarvoski rhinestone crystals on to the gown, they were able to replicate Miss Lee’s gown which was like wise trimmed in rhinestones. "We detail the gowns as close to real evening gowns as possible, and it takes a good deal of patience and time to get it right," said LeBreton.
NiniMomo Creations, located in Lake Grove, NY, specializes in annually produced one-of-a-kind dolls representing over 175 countries of the world, as well as, the 50 states and the District of Columbia. "We’ve been overwhelmed by the public’s response to our dolls," said LeBreton, adding, "by presenting Miss USA with one of our dolls, we believe that this publicity will add to our sales."
